Perfect for a long relaxing drink or a short aperitif for two, Royal Doulton introduces the R&D Collection, three sets of pairs of tumblers and highballs designed to embrace home entertaining and inspire the inner mixologist. To launch the R&D Collection, renowned London based mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana (aka Mr Lyan) has matched six individual cocktails that can easily be created at home. Cocktails were designed reflecting the three different designs of the Royal Doulton crystal glasses. The Highclere design typifies timeless style with its classic diamond and wedge cut. For the Highclere highball glass Mr Lyan created the non-alcoholic Sorrell Cooler made of Hibiscus, cinnamon, honey Garnished with sage and watermelon. The Neptune design elects a more contemporary design with a series of tactile cuts running vertically on the glassware creating a decorative illusion of water drops sliding down the glass. Fitting to the Neptune tumbler is Mr Lyan’s Cider Fix made of Amaretto, lemon, Angostura bitters, dry cider served over ice with lemon (with leaves attached) and radishes on the side. The Radial design demonstrates a retro-modern design, inspired by art-deco and architectural influences. This vision is shown throughout the glass with sequences of horizontal and vertical intersecting cuts that help create the sharp and chic finish. To accompany the Radial Highball, Mr Lyan recommends the Dogs Nose Floradora made of gin, raspberries, ginger syrup, Guinness, lemon and mint shaken and served straight up with a mint sprig and raspberry garnish.
