What sets you apart from your competitors? It has to be the exclusivity that licensed, and artist led product gives us. What we sell is not available anywhere else. We work as a partnership with our retailers, offering them great terms, support in the way of digital assets, marketing advice, B2B website and also our dedicated sales team. How are you finding the current climate in the UK? Is it affecting business? We are having a strong start to the year and are looking forward to seeing retail open across all our markets. The shift to online buying has of course been huge and it has fast tracked many retailers towards having their own website to complement a bricks and mortar shop. How do you view the future of independent retail post-pandemic? Just from talking to my own circle of friends and colleagues there is a desire to get back to the high street. The retail landscape will never be the same again, but nothing replaces shopping. Impulse buying is not the same online and the nature of our product benefits from being seen, beautifully displayed. Are you active on social media? How is this important for the business? Yes, we have many branded social media pages for our key brands across Facebook and Instagram, this drives demand and increases awareness. It is vital for growing brands, Do you have any advice for new businesses starting out in the world of gifts? Find your USP and constantly refresh your shop or website. Great customer service is very important. We all have our favourite independent, with exciting new product collections each time you visit, friendly staff and of course if space allows, offering coffee and cake is always a draw. What can we expect in the future from the company? There is always something exciting happening at Enesco, being part of a global group gives us more opportunity. We have a new Game of Thrones collection on the horizon plus new collaborations with key artists and licenses. We have booked space at Spring Fair and Ambiente in 2022 and cannot wait to get back to the trade fairs, meet customers and present all our wonderful products.
