45 RETAILER INTERVIEW future of independent retail? I believe that customers nowadays are not only interested in acquiring a product, they want to be part of a story. Long were the days where quality was the main factor sought out by customers – today the vast majority of them want to acquire something that also embraces sustainability, social responsibility and longevity. In my view, independent retailers can demonstrate these values more transparently than larger companies and this is an important advantage. What advice would you give other retailers? Setting up any type of business is a huge challenge in our current economic climate and for retail, a sector that is arguably overly saturated, can be even more difficult. However, if you combine originality, hard work and perseverance, you can achieve success – you just need to find where your audience and customers are. What are your plans for the future? We plan to continue finding new, exciting and beautiful fashion accessories in line with our mission and to work with even more talented Brazilian designers and artisans. We also aim to extend our charitable work and create projects which can use fashion as a platform to transform lives in a positive way and to work on initiatives internally to make our business even more sustainable.
