There have been so many incredible ‘pinch me’ moments which I am so grateful for! I would say achieving our B Corp certification was one such moment, as we put so much importance on ensuring we created a brand that has minimal negative impact on our planet. The certification really encompasses everything we do and validates our efforts. Reaching our first birthday was also super special, as so many new businesses don’t make it to the first year. Being able to celebrate surrounded by our wonderful community was a real blessing. How are you finding the current climate in the UK? Is it affecting business? The current economic climate in the UK has posed some challenges due to inflation. However, we’ve been proactive in adapting our strategies to mitigate these impacts. By optimising our operations, enhancing our online presence, and focusing on customer satisfaction, we’ve managed to continue growing and meeting our business goals. It is very hard though, and so many businesses are struggling at the moment. How do you view the future of independent retail? The future of independent retail looks promising with a focus on personalised customer experiences, unique product offerings, and strong community connections. Consumers are also looking at supporting small businesses and I’m hopeful this shift in shopping habits will enable the growth and success of independent businesses. Are you active on social media? How is this important for the business? Yes, we are active on social media, mainly Instagram. It’s crucial for our business because it helps us connect with our customers, build brand awareness, and stay engaged with our community. Social media platforms allow us to showcase our products, share updates, and gather valuable feedback, which ultimately drives growth and customer loyalty. Do you have any advice for new businesses starting out in the world of gifts? I would say find a unique niche and do not compromise on quality. Also, build an online presence and really understand your customers’ preferences and listen to feedback. Most importantly, stay passionate about your work, this will resonate with your customers and drive your business forward. What can we expect in the future from the company? We have so many exciting things in the pipeline, from new products to launching in new regions.
