Additionally, in November 2023, Gibsons was awarded its B Corp certification for upholding exemplary ethical, social and environmental practices. This has included charity initiatives, environmentally friendly manufacturing and distribution, a highly inclusive product range featuring dementia-friendly puzzles, and a positive working culture. Kate Gibson states, “We are absolutely over the moon to win this award! Being recognised as Family Business of the Year is a real testament to the hard work and dedication of our whole team. We are hugely proud to part of the family business community that does so much for the UK economy.” Paul Andrews, Founder of Family Business United, states, “Family businesses are the backbone of the UK economy and often the unsung heroes too. Family firms are significant contributors to the economy in terms of jobs provided and income generated and behind each family firm are individuals driving them, making decisions and looking to the future. Family firms take the long-term view and invest in their businesses and the communities in which they operate.” www.gibsongames.co.uk Catch up on all the latest in our news round up GREETING CARD ASSOCIATION LEADS COALITION TO HELP SAVE THE UK POSTAL SERVICE The UK’s Greeting Card Association is leading a new coalition of membership organisations and businesses representing over 10,000 small and medium-sized UK businesses and serving millions of consumers across the country, to help save the UK postal service. The UK’s Greeting Card Association (GCA), British Independent Retailers Association (BIRA), the Booksellers Association, the National Federation of SubPostmasters, Voice of the Postmaster and Bookshop.org have urged new Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds to keep the postal service national, reliable and affordable. The new coalition is asking the government to reverse the slide in performance of Royal Mail and insist it meets existing performance targets before contemplating any changes to the legal obligations that hold the postal service to account. Patients who’ve missed hospital appointments, grandparents who failed to receive their birthday cards and voters who didn’t get their postal vote on time, know how much we all depend on a Royal Mail service that gets back to delivering. All of the organisations stand ready to help the new government meet its manifesto commitments as they undertake the vital task of restoring the postal service to health. 8
