12 Stone WORK Mirabelle Founder Veronique Henry shares what makes the jewellery brand stand out from the crowd When did you start up and why? I started the business in 2004 because I love jewellery, minerals and stones and also being independent. I had a desire to do what I love to do with no pressure, on my own terms. What challenges have you overcome since the company’s launch? The main challenges I’ve faced have been trying to create visibility of the brand, handling competition, and generating funds. Tell us about your product offering. Mirabelle Jewellery offers distinctive designs and unique stones. Nature can’t be copied so every stone is individual, and I work around the stones so that we respect it with a design that suits. What are your most popular products? The bestselling items are crystal balls, pebbles, and raw stones. Unique pieces are also very popular. Have any styles taken you by surprise with their popularity? A few, yes. One is still our most popular to this day, which is the Lolita earrings. These have got royal approval, with The Duchess of Cambridge having worn them a few times! How do you keep your designs fresh and current? Do you follow trends? While the stones are the main event, I do follow the colour trends. However, my designs are more intemporal and classic – they can be worn now and for a long time. What sets you apart from your competitors? My unique designs and quality stones. I believe the stone has properties that can help us, therefore it’s important to source ethical and quality stones. We are also selective about the people who make the jewellery – we only work with good artisans.
