54 A PERSONAL TOUCH When did you start up and why? It all began back in 2004 with just one engraving machine, at this time, personalisation was in its infancy and was only just starting to catch on. Over the years, our passion for creating memorable gifts has fuelled our growth, and we were proud to celebrate our 20th anniversary this year! What prompted you to launch the business? The idea was born from the realisation that people want to give gifts that hold personal meaning. We saw a gap in the market for personalised gifts and so, we launched PMC with the goal of becoming the UK’s leading personalised gift supplier to the trade. What challenges have you overcome since the company’s launch? As with any business, the early years were all about learning and adapting. From managing the initial demand with just one engraving machine to scaling our production to handle up to 20,000 products per day, we’ve had to constantly innovate and streamline our processes. More recently, adapting to the rapidly changing retail environment, keeping up with technology, and responding to shifts in customer behaviour during challenging times like the pandemic have been key. But these challenges have only made us stronger, helping us improve our service and product range. Tell us about your product offering. Whether it’s an inside joke, a heartfelt message, or a special date, we make it easy for people to create gifts that resonate. From engraved glassware and personalised home décor to kids’ gifts and fashion accessories, we have something for every taste and occasion. What are your most popular products? Our engraved gifts, such as glassware and photo frames, remain consistent bestsellers, as they beautifully commemorate special moments. Personalised home décor items like cushions and LED lights are also in high demand, adding a personal touch to any space. Additionally, our personalised children’s gifts and seasonal items like Christmas baubles see a lot of love, especially around the holidays. Have any styles taken you by surprise with their popularity? Yes, our brand-new Highland cow range has exceeded expectations, with great sales across the wide variety of products, including, cushions, candles and mugs. This range has received positive feedback from all of our retailers and seems to be an up-and-coming customer favourite! How do you keep your designs fresh and current? Do you follow trends? Absolutely! Staying ahead of trends and listening to customer feedback is key to offering products that our customers will love. We’re always keeping an eye on what’s popular in the design world, from colour palettes to seasonal themes. Our in-house creative team are constantly brainstorming new ideas and launching fresh products every week. What sets you apart from your competitors?
